February 2020 NC FAIR Chapter Meeting
What: This quarter's NC FAIR chapter meeting hosted by Cisco - RTP
When: February 13, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm
Where: Cisco Campus in RTP - Building 7: Conference room Maggie
7100 Kit Creek Rd, Morrisville, NC 27560
Topic: Informing Secondary Loss Magnitude
Join us for a discussion about quantifying secondary loss magnitude.
There's no argument that "counting the costs" of the potential impact of a cyber event is one of the hardest things we do as FAIR and risk professionals. This is especially true when an event hasn't impacted your organization. Cisco realizes that working in siloes to solve big problems like this limits FAIR's advancement and shared success. The discussion will work to identify data sources that can inform this most elusive (but potential most expensive) area of financial loss. Let's partner together to think critically about defending the pros and cons of resources that can inform secondary LM.
This discussion will reference some of the topics from Doug Hubbard's presentation at FAIRCon19. The recording of his talk can be viewed at https://link.fairinstitute.org/discussion/574/how-to-measure-risk-with-limited-and-messy-data-overcoming-the-myths-by-doug-hubbard
Feel free to arrive early to enjoy lunch at Cisco's café, catch up on work, and network with other FAIR practitioners. Please RSVP to [email protected] if you would like us to get guest credentials for wifi access ahead of time. We will begin our meeting at 12:50 EST.
