WannaCry 5 years on: the more things change, the more they stay the same

Companies that are most successful in responding to cyberattacks leverage distributed leadership, crisis experience, and consistent communication. Lessons and insights from past cyberattacks can help companies prepare and respond more successfully to future threats. In this meeting, our panel of cyber risk experts and executives will discuss lessons learned from past high profile cyber attacks and how cyber risk quantification (expressed in dollar values) could and has been leveraged to generate consistent communication to drive management resolve and prioritisation in lifting cyber resilience.

By applying FAIR analysis to the annual "Cost of a Data Breach Report" for 2021", organisations can determine their own specific risk picture, including annual probability, which might be higher or lower than the Average Cost of Data Breach data.

The FAIR-CAM (Control Analytics Model) is an extension of the FAIR standard to operationalise the insights by comparing the efficacy of different controls. FAIR-CAM accounts for controls both with direct and indirect effects on risk, yielding a complete system view.

Speakers:

Denny Wan (founder and co-chair of the Sydney Chapter) will provide a quick overview of FAIR-CAM to set the scene for the panel session.
